Marvels newest film, The Guardians of the Galaxy, an adventure through the cosmic side of the Marvel cinematic universe following on from Captain America: Winter Solider, Marvel’s first jump into a even wider cinematic universe is a massive hit success and a beautiful movie; It’s well very well directed, the casting was great, the sound track suits it perfectly, the set’s are a joy to look for any sci-fi or not. its just a massive joy to be able to see a movie so out there be such a big hit success. honestly i am a massive marvel fan and i only just started hearing about these characters when the movies hype train started rolling out.
I mean it shouldn’t be too surprising, its a Disney movie with a talking raccoon and a tree which is like prime time Disney talking animal movie.
The cast in this movie do an amazing job across the board, even the former WWE superstar Batista has clearly up his acting game as Drax the Destroyer, while i was worried about Bradley Cooper being a voice actor for Rocket i was pleasantly surprised at how well he performed the role,Zoe Saldana does a great job at the green skinned ‘deadliest woman in the universe’ Gamora and gives an excellent portrayal of a bad ass warrior woman, by far the stand out voice performer as well as mo-cap comes from Vin Diesel as the walking space tree Groot, not only getting to show off his massive voice acting skills as well as some impressive emotions on show from the mo-cap that really gives the character who only says 4 words such a massive draw and a awesome character. last but not least Chris Pratt as the leader of his band of misfits ‘Peter Quill’ also know as Star-Lord (who?), who brings a great comedic as well as seriousness to this role, that shows that marvel can have fun as well as be serious (LEARN SOMETHING DC DANG IT!) that’s just the main cast of heroes acting here.Glenn Close and John C. Reilly give great performances as members of the Nova corps, one of the stand out side characters is The Collector (an immortal who seems to be a big fan of a sort of extreme antiquing with everything in the universe) played by the awesome Benicio del Toro and look as space fabulous as possible.
Along with that we have the films main villains, played by Lee Pace, Karen Gillian, Djimon Hounsou and Micheal Rooker, each bringing there own respective good performance to each of there own villains. from the jealous sister of Gamora know as Nebula a blue skinned cyborg a role that Karen Gillian clearly enjoys and that she really brings to life during all the scenes she is, Lee Pace as the omnicidal maniac zealot Ronan the Accuser giving off a powerful and commanding presence in every scene he is in and shows the mind of a clearly dangerous man who clearly believes in everything he is doing. Djimon Hounsou gives another commanding performance as the henchman Korath, really bringing serious to a roll after an amazing entrance into the scene by Peter Quill (a scene i will not ruin as its amazing).
Honestly no one turns in a bad performance for this movie and they where all a great choice to the roll and bring to life these characters.
So yeah, go watch this movie, right now.
and if you leave before the credits are down…i will cut your heart out with a spoon (You get a prize if you know what movie that’s from)
