Warner brothers and DC’s first film that is set to create a larger DC cinematic universe. Expect it doesn’t, what it is doing is throwing an audience into a universe that is all ready set up with a history dating back to WW1. With characters like Batman, The Flash and Wonder Woman all ready being established and existing. This is very different to the Marvel Cinematic universe creating and showing there universe building with each film. There isn’t a wrong way to do things with film and change from the formula of superhero films is great.

I think the main problem with the film is the pacing, at two and a half hours long and still filled with plot holes, with parts of the film feeling like they should have been after the credits. But i think that this was on purpose, as a after credits scene is not just a super hero film thing to do anymore…its a Marvel movie thing to do and i can see Warner Brothers and DC wanting to try and do anything to stand out when put against the monstrous Disney and Marvel.

When your late to the game of universe building, i think doing it differently will really help everything stand out. As a massive comic book fan i managed to spot allot of stuff from the wider DC universe.

I think that was more just a rant and less of a review. so long rant. This film is pretty visually impressive and its just epic to see DC’s three biggest heroes all punching the same big monster at the same time. It’s awesome to see some of the scenes pretty much ripped right from one of the greatest comic books of all time. A live action Wonder Woman who was a badass warrior and a Superman i could identify  who was just as cool. A Batman with a voice that wasn’t laughable. The film is full of awesome moments, good action and well acted drama. I also liked Jessie Eisenberg as Lex, a lovely ball of insane genius.

Now the problems with this film mostly come from the pacing and the editing.  With some scenes really feeling like they belonged after the credits or just in a different part of the film. But its not something to really call this film bad. Other problems kind of make sense on the context of the film, like Batman killing people…where a 20 year old cynical batman who has lost people he has loved one to many times, justifying his manslaughter as not his fault, as he has fallen from the moral standards of your normal every day batman. instead of showing this moral falling in the film it is instead implied to have happened in the 20 years before.

It’s a enjoyable film that will leave you asking question if you wish to learn more abot the wider DC universe, otherwise this film could lose half an hour or so. Myself i am pretty excited by the idea of the three hours cut that is set to be released.
