Twlight Resciprting

For our weekly task we had to rewrite a scene in Twilight, however we had to changed the genders of the characters by either making them more feminine or masculine. This did not necessarily mean that the females had to become males and the males to become female, as gender is not defined by sex, rather gender is a mindset. With that being said we chose the scene where Edward formally met Bella’s father before their day. We changed Charlie(The father) into a feminine mother, made Edward more masculine (changing his name to Eddie) and Bella more feminine, using her real name Isabella

93 INT. CHARLENE’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – LATE AFTERNOON 93

Isabella enters to find Charlene washing the dishes. She starts to say hello but she blurts out.

Isabella

Mom I have a date with Eddie Cullen, he’s so cute.

She drops the plate in horror

Charlene

He’s too old for you, Isabella

Isabella

Don’t be silly Mom we’re both juniors, Do you think this is cute?

Points to her clothes

Charlene

But honey, I thought you weren’t interested in any of the boys in town

Isabella

Edward doesn’t live “in town.” And it’s in the early stage and – whatever, he’s outside right now.

Charlene

Now? You brought him into our house

Bella

I told him he should meet you

Charlene

Good

She branches her rolling pin and mocks seriousness

Isabella

Be nice ok he’s important, you’ll like him he’s really cute

Charlene gives her daughter a reassuring nod… then she opens the door to REVEAL Eddie in a hoodie and low-slung jeans and a heavily bearded face hands in pockets

Eddie

…Hi, I guess

Charlene gives him the mom look and slightly upturns her lip

Charlene

Charmed… so where are you two lovebirds going? Isabella should be back by 11

Eddie

I won’t keep Bella out late tonight. We’re just going to go play baseball.

Both Charlene and Isabella look surprised

Charlene

I didn’t think Isabella liked baseball

Isabella

With clenched teeth and glare

Mom? What are you talking about I love baseball?

Eddie

Yeah she loves it when I swing my bat

Charlene

Well…you guys have fun

Eddie

Oh we will

Gives a cheeky smile

As Eddie exits Charlene holds Bella back,

Charlene

(Sotto) You phone me if anything goes wrong ok sweetie?

Isabella

Mooom~

94 EXT. CHARENE’S HOUSE – LATE AFTERNOON 94

Edward and Bella climb into a Humvee parked in the drive

EDWARD

(Amused) Your mom thinks I’m to rough for you and you should go to an all-girl’s school.

Isabella

No fair reading my mum’s mind

As they climb in the Jeep, Bella notices a baseball bat

Isabella

What? We’re actually going to play baseball…I’m wearing a dress

Eddie

Deal with it, there’s a thunderstorm coming and that’s the only time we can play
