Alone 2007

Twainese horror/thriller released in 2007.

The main characters being a Twainse couple, who are clearly happily married, but as the wife ‘Pim’ mother get’s sick they have to go home and she ha to vist her old large empty house.

You see in the start of the film that Pim use to have a conjoined twin, called Ploy, that you are told died in the operation that was to separate the two, with the still living Pim having a sort of survivors guilt over the fact her sister died and that she lived.

As the film starts you get the feeling that there is something very strange happening in this old house, as soon shapes are drawn on mirror’s, items start appearing and Pim starts to see things that are nto there, with the filming starting off as a simple ‘Ghost story’ horror film as the plot gose on you really feel that it starts to change into something else, and with this I really feel that the  film get;s its strength from this turning on the conventions of a ghost horror film and really turning into something else.

All the roles are well acted, and thanks to the acress playing ‘Pim’ I didn’t see the drastic and sernden change in personality. happen hat works really well into the plot, the actress playing this woman who has mental problems and may be haunted.

The Husband ‘Wee’ is also a great actor and really plays the role of loving and hurt husband very well, making this whole story seem alot more believable and really making you not sure if it is really just another old ghost story.

The Music in the horror film is used really well for hump scares, really making anyone who has no idea that it is going to happen jump as a large amout of people, my self included jumped when the music hit and the scare was meant to happen, this is even more helped by the fact that the whoe film its self really doesn’t have a lot of music through our and heps these jump scar parts really stand out and effect people a lot.

Over all this plot is amazing, and as I would reather not talk about the plot twist and ruin it, I will just say that it really effects the film and changes the direction that it is going, helping both mix genre’s and change the type of film it is almost with just a few scene’s and the acting of ‘Pim’s’ actress.

My mian problem with the film being that there are quite a few plot holes that the films plot its self doesn’t clean up, abut that is really my only problem with this film.

A well directed and very good horror film that really stands out compared to the other ‘Asian’ Horror films that the west are normal use to seeing, and even then I only noticed these problems with my second viewing of the film anyway I would highly recommend this horror film.
