Dark and Gritty is not always good

I am getting a little sick of things turning into dark and gritty, from films to games, companies seem to think this is a big selling point. One of the lasted victims of this is a game formerly called ‘Overstrike’ that was colourful in both personality, design and writing when you comepare it to other 3rd persons shooters that are currently on the market,

This looks at least fun, i can’t say if it would of been a good game, but it had good music, characters and a whole feeling of fun around from just this two minute trailer. it looked, sounded and acted different from other first/third person shooters, catching some peoples eye because of how different it looked. but then they made it look like everything else on the market later.

And then EA did something, or something happened to make the game go in a completely different direction, i have no idea why this happened, but i think its a bad idea.

Fun is a good thing for a game….either in personality or just in gameplay, fun is more important for a shooter because dark and gritty has been done to death so much that it has the Grim Reaper on speed dial
